The Winemaking

Winemaker Anne Sery masterfully crafts sophisticated, opulent wines from Hyland Vineyard, each evolving gracefully and eloquently expressing its character from vintage to vintage. With every first sip comes an element of surprise—autonomy in a bottle. Each wine from Hyland Vineyard tells its own unique story—sometimes reserved, sometimes exuberant. Every bottle is a narrative brought to life by its biographer, a winemaker who fully appreciates the extraordinary gift they have in their hands.

Our winemaking doctrine is rooted in the vineyard, where wines are grown, not made. Nestled in the foothills of Oregon's Coast Range, Hyland Vineyard benefits from a cool, moderate growing season, allowing each vintage to reach its full potential. By practicing biodynamic farming and letting the fruit express itself in the winery, we craft elegant, unadulterated wines that transport you to the vineyard with every sip.

"Working with Hyland fruit is like stepping in a place that could be 200 years ago or 200 years from now. Every time I go there it’s almost as if the time stops; the vines are standing there, poised, doing what they’ve been doing for over 50 years and we’re just there to encourage, cajole, show them our support. The wines reflect that inherent power. They are not to be tamed, not to be made, they just are."

-Anne Sery, Director of Winemaking
